This conference is the twelfth in the Association's international series of events, and it comes at a time when great changes are unfolding in Europe, both in terms of regional development and regional policy. The meeting takes place in Prague, at the heart of the Czech Republic.

Hosted by the University of Economics Prague the theme of this years conference is "Regions: The Dilemmas of Integration and Competition?"

The conference follows the structure of previous events with a number of plenary presentations interspersed with several parallel gateways, many of which will run throughout the conference.

Those interested in contributing to the conference are invited to submit an abstract (between 400 - 800 words), giving the relevant Gateway and FULL CONTACT DETAILS by 29th February 2008. You are encouraged to discuss your ideas with the Gateway convenors before submission but in all cases abstracts must be sent to the Regional Studies Association VIA THE WEBSITE so that they can be logged and author contact details registered for the receipt of further information. If accepted your abstract will form your submission to the conference volume with carries an ISBN Number.

Submission Guidelines

Please submit via our website at www.regional-studies-assoc.ac.uk  by 29th February 2008. The conference abstract submission page will close on this date and you will not be able to submit after this date. Your abstract will be accepted - You are required to register and pay at the same time as you submit. The site is secure and accepts all major credit and debit cards. If paying in this way is a difficulty for you please contact the office.


Submissions must include the title, abstract, authors details and choice of gateway.

Proposals will be considered by the Conference Programme Committee against the criteria of originality and interest, subject balance and geographical spread.
