Register by 19 October 2021 for the fifth International Conference on Learning Cities at Yoensu in the Republic of Korea from 27-30 October at this link. Further details of the programme are featured below and attached, and we are pleased to announce that amongst the presenters and moderators are PASCAL representatives, Professors Robbie Guevara, Roberta Piazza and Michael Osborne, Director of CR&DALL at the University of Glasgow.

The theme of the conference is From emergency to resilience: Building healthy and resilient cities through learning with all sessions available online.

 

Invitation to the fifth International Conference on Learning Cities

From 27 to 30 October 2021, representatives from UNESCO learning cities and further experts from around the world will come together for the fifth International Conference on Learning Cities (ICLC), hosted by the UNESCO learning city of Yeonsu, Republic of Korea.

 
‘From emergency to resilience’
Under the theme ‘From emergency to resilience: Building healthy and resilient cities through learning’, representatives and experts from UNESCO learning cities, UN agencies, regional organizations, non-governmental organizations and the private sector will discuss the power of lifelong learning to foster health and resilience.  

They will identify public policies and planning approaches that support building resilient learning systems in cities, and share experiences on the implementation of local actions that foster health and well-being. As a hybrid conference, the fifth ICLC will offer online and offline spaces for networking among participants.
 
Speakers line-up
High-level speakers will include Mr Ban Ki-Moon (former Secretary-General of the United Nations), Mr David Nabarro (Strategic Director of Skills, Systems and Synergies for Sustainable Development, Co-chair of the Forum on Climate Change and Health, WHO special Envoy for COVID-19) and mayors from across the globe, including Mr Nam-Seok Ko, the mayor of the host city of Yeonsu.

On 27 October 2021, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning will reveal the winners of this year’s UNESCO Learning City Award.
