Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a major ruling in the case known as Trump vs. United States. The case was brought by former President Donald Trump to dismiss all Federal charges against him for allegedly criminal behavior for actions he took while he served as the 45th President of the United States.
Former President Donald J. Trump’s felony convictions in a New York state court several weeks ago highlights two opposing narratives explaining the country's current divide. Each narrative resonates well with different components of urban communities. Each major political party has crafted its preferred narrative to resonate with its target voters. In doing so, these opposing narratives significantly erode the social fabric of American cities.
Local governments and officials can play essential roles in shaping urban environments in ways that are conducive to collective action that slows the rate of global warming. Or, if their local governance mechanisms are not designed and implemented thoughtfully and effectively, they can also contribute to a range of problems and obstacles to such action.

We pleased to announce a further Pre-COP Webinar: Australia, ‘Good’ Global Governance and the Geopolitics of Climate Negotiations to be held on Wednesday 27 October at 0900 (BST), 1600 (Singapore) and 1900 (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

How has COVID-19 altered trajectories in planning for older communities, and what opportunities has the pandemic presented? How can cities continue to remain liveable for their citizens to not just age, but age well?
